Dogwoods

Dogwoods can be used for the foundation of a well planned habitat program.  They will grow in nearly year round standing water, and dryer upland sites as well.  They provide flowers, fruit and browse.  Expect deer to utilize dogwoods heavily during the late winter months when they need browse most.

Their striking color and fast growth rate add to their appeal.  One of the easiest plants to grow from cuttings, expect quick establishment and a full size plant extremely quickly.  Very high on the preference list of browse for whitetail deer.  If you are planting this in landscape area with lots of deer in your neighborhood, expect to protect these until they are established.
