If you are looking for the fastest way to establish a visual screen, wind break, or shade, hybrid poplars and willows are the right choice.
Hybrids give lawn, golf courses, parks and other commercial developments a mature look in only a few years. Well-suited for land reclamation and wildlife habitat. Good for windbreaks, providing protection from wind and snow. They typically live 30-80 years, are wind, disease, and insect-resistant and can take the cold as far north as Canada.
Are you trying to create a screen from the road or neighbor? You won't find a better suited tree to make a screen in a short time. We recommend (3) rows in staggered spacing of 6' between trees and 10' between rows.
All of our hybrids do not sucker like the original hybrids people often think of and have a longer life span that the originals as well. Male clones don't create "fuzz" that some people find annoying. Don't confuse our hybrid poplars with the "Lombardy" poplar tree you saw as a kid. Lombardy's are short lived, messy and prone to disease. The clones we carry have a much more elegant shape and a longer life span.
When you need shade in a hurry, we suggest fast-growning Hybrid Poplar & Hybrid Willow trees. They grow like no other type of tree!
